A Word for the New Year

Have you been thinking about your intentions and desires for the next year?

I'd like to share with you something that I do every new year to clarify my intentions.

As each New Year begins, I select a word to be my guiding light over the next year.

For 2015, my word is:

Spaciousness

~ more white space on my calendar ~

~ more pauses during my days ~

~ more open space in my home and in my office ~

~ more mental space ~

~ more room to nourish my most meaningful relationships
and other things that are important to me ~

Before selecting this word, I noticed how uncomfortable I had become with the clutter in my life.

My first inclination was to embark on a decluttering project, and I wrote "De-clutter and Organization" on several dates in my calendar.

Then, I paused.  In that pause, my body said "no - that's not it."  As I sat with this message, Clarity bubbled up. Clarity told me that this sounded like hard work - ugh! Clarity said that I've tried this approach before, and while it worked to some extent, it wasn't lasting.

Clarity urged me to go deeper. I recognized my deeper desire to flow with life more easily, to allow life to happen and be open to the surprises that life brings, rather than have everything planned out. And to put more of my energy into the things that are most important to me.

I recognized that these outcomes would be more fully supported if I created more physical and mental space in my life.

So, this year I will be cultivating Spaciousness.
